Andy Hopkins Sculptor

My most recent piece is of a Brazilian harmonica player, commissioned by a London-based promoter of Latin music. It’s quite a complicated piece, involving two separate moulds, one for the head and one for the hands / harmonica.

He plays a chromatic harmonica, and interestingly, with the button on his left – hence the raised finger which hovers ever-ready. The images here show the almost final clay piece and the finished sculpture cast in bronze resin.

After participating in two wonderful long-term exhibitions over the spring and summer of 2021 at Abbey House Gardens in Malmesbury and at Berkeley Castle in Berkeley, Gloucestershire, I’m working on three new pieces that I hope will be ready for the beginning of 2022.
